By having the Einstein's Proteges study group on my schedule, it lead me to want to study more in other classes. I noticed a huge difference in my tests in all my other classes, and I have miraculously gotten all my homework done in my other classes too. My GPA is going up from a 2.25 to a 3.0. Next year I am going into my first class with confidence because now I know what I have to do to get a good grade.

If I am ever lost again, I will remember how helpful it was to actually talk one-on-one with the instructor or TA.

This class went from "this is what you are being taught, now memorize it" to "this is what you know, now apply it." Never was I asked to do this before.

So much of my life I thought I was the problem, but this class showed me that I had potential to be successful in all of my endeavors.

I not only learned the actual course material for the class, but I learned generally about college and how I need to reconsider how I go about it. I especially believe that the new way of studying that I learned will be useful to me for many years.

I feel that I have grown into a much more responsible and productive person during this semester. Through online workshops and study groups, I have learned skills useful to me in other classes. I previously hated working in study groups, but with Einstein's Proteges I now realize that a study group can be effective if it is conducted in an orderly fashion by a leader who knows what to do. This experience has helped me to want to become a leader.

I struggle with the idea of asking for help, and many times earn lower grades because of it. However, belonging to a group of students with similar frustrations, questions, and ideas really helped me open up to ask more in depth questions and to go to office hours. This confidence helped me in other courses as well, giving me more experience talking face-to-face with my professors.

After thinking about my personal habits and attitudes, I realize that I am holding myself back from learning new things as well as making my time in school more difficult than it should be. As a result of Einstein's Proteges, I clearly see that I have improved on my time management skills and actually made things simpler for myself.

In a lecture class the size of this one, it is possible to go through an entire semester without knowing a soul. Einstein's Proteges introduced me to new friends, a new way of looking at things, and generated a sense of responsibility to my group.

My test grades began to increase and I was interested to see that I actually began to apply my knowledge to everyday life. This was by far my greatest accomplishment because I was able to have intelligent conversations with my family and friends. For the first time in my life I realized that I was an intelligent human being.

I have seen in the past few months that my work is better when I start it earlier. So whereas I may not yet be the perfect, procrastination-free student, I have improved a great deal from where I once was. I can finally say that I am proud of the work I have done.

While studying for the second exam I knew the information well enough to teach it from start to finish to someone else. It was at that moment that I knew I had become a better student because of the skills I developed in this class.

I got along very well with people in my Einstein's Proteges group. I don’t think I would have been able to write the proper information down on tests if I hadn’t been able to describe these ideas out loud first to my group and then in the study sessions.

This class has brought to me a clear comprehension of what I need to do for every college course. I am so grateful that I acquired this understanding in my freshman year instead of later on.

In the beginning of the semester I was doing C and B work, but I managed to get As on the second exam and the last two assignments. Not bad for a slacker! This is beneficial because the techniques that I applied to make these changes will help me reach my overall goals of maintaining good grades and being accountable for things that I am responsible for academically and professionally.

My first exam reflected my lack of note-taking skills. My first step was to move closer to the front of the room so I could better understand the lecture. The second thing I did was to join an Einstein's Proteges study group. I was quite amazed to see the level of enthusiasm that the group had to learn and to excel in this class. As a consequence, I learned not to feel uncomfortable studying with others but to relish the experience of it.

After taking my first exam I instantly saw the positive outcomes of Einstein's Proteges. I could not believe I got an A in my hardest course! I also noticed that it wasn’t just my NATS class I was doing better in because grades in all my other classes were higher than my first semester grades.

This class taught me that it is OK to ask for help. Once I overcame my fear and did seek help, it became addicting. It also allowed me to realize that I can get help in other courses as well.

The fact that I accomplished my goal of earning an A is nice, but the skills and lessons that I learned during this experience go far beyond the principles of radiant energy, the greenhouse effect, and the carbon cycle. I have made new friends, fought procrastination, and improved my leadership skills. None of this growth would have happened had I decided that the effort required to be an Einstein's Proteges preceptor would be too much for me to handle.

The Einstein's Proteges meetings gave me great friends, and they taught me the importance of full commitment to something, especially when you volunteer to do it. My worked improved from the beginning to the end of the semester and that is the fact I am most proud of.

I know my teachers names and they know mine. Not only that, I know they care about what I do and how I am doing. We are invested in each other which is important. I now care about how I do as a student because they know me. It is much easier to fail in front of a stranger than someone you respect.
